Water-Milfoil (Myriophyllum)
Water-Milfoil Genus Details
Water milfoil is a perennial native to North America. It is an aquatic plant with leaves in bunches of fours spiralling around a purplish red stem. Male flowers are purplish and appear at the end of the flowering stem. The lower whitish flowers are female. Reproduction is from seeds, fragmentation and winterbuds. If the levels of water milfoil get high enough, they may impede water flow in irrigation ditches, drainage canals and water ways.
